It's likely that you've come across some stylish lions while browsing, or perhaps you've seen one featured on the home page. And maybe, just maybeeee, you've wanted a stylish lion of your own. So, let's go over how to do just that, shall we?
Applying Decor
Before decorating your lions, it's important to know that two features will allow you to apply decor, and two will allow you to manage decor. These locations, as well as their decor-related features, are as follows:
- Hoard: Apply.
- Individual Lion Pages: Manage Layering and Remove.
- Lion Equipper:Apply, Manage Layering, Preview, and Remove.
As you can see, your Hoard and your lions' pages provide limited decorating features, while the Lion Equipper provides them all. Due to this, we will start this tutorial by covering your Hoard and your lions' pages; however, should you wish to jump ahead to the Lion Equipper, click here.
If you haven't jumped ahead, first find the lion that you wish to decorate. Once you're certain, head over to your Hoard, and then find the decor that you wish to use. You can do this by either searching for the decor by name, or by selecting 'Decoration' from the dropdown menu (if you are instead looking to apply a background, select 'Background').

Click on the decor and you'll be taken to the following screen:

Select the lion that you wish to decorate from the dropdown menu, and then click 'Use!'. This will then give you a confirmation notification as well as a link to your lion. If you apply more than one decor, or use your Hoard to apply decor to an already decorated lion, then that decor will be placed underneath the existing decors.
Be advised that upon applying a decor, that decor will then lose a use, and it will also be unable to be applied to other lions until it is unequipped.
Lion Page: Layering Decor
To manage your lion's decor order from their page, first scroll down to 'Equipped Decorations' and select 'Hide/Show'. Within this section you will find a list of equipped decorations connected to a number; these will fall in 'Above' or 'Below' categories. Before adjusting the decor order, you'll first want to become familiar with the 'Above' and 'Below'.
Above is decor that appears on top of your lion; this includes decor such as companions, florals, and jewelry. Below is decor that appears "underneath" or "below" your lion; this may include plants, parts of wing sets, etc. So, when you are adjusting the order of your decors, keep in mind that above decors will always appear on top of below decors, regardless of layering order.

Now that we've covered those categories, lets take a look at the actual layering order. This order is defined by the numbers to the left of your lion's decors. The decors with a higher number will cover the decors with a lower number and vice versa!

To change the order, you'll need to first remove the current number of the decor(s) you wish to move. Once that number has been removed, type in the number that you wish to assign to that decor(s), and then select 'Update Orders!'. You'll then receive the following notification:
Lion Page: Removing Decor
Using the 'Equipped Decorations' section of your lion's page, you'll check the boxes of the decor that you wish to remove. If you are instead looking to remove your lion's background, just select 'Remove'.

Once the decor or decors that you wish to remove have all been checked off, select 'Remove Decors'. This will then give you the following notification:
If your decor had 2 or more uses left when being applied, you will now be able to find it in your Hoard with 1 less use. However, if your decor had 1 use left when it was applied, it will not appear in your Hoard nor will you be able to use it again, as its uses hit 0.
Lion Equipper
As previously covered, the Lion Equipper allows you to apply, manage, preview, and remove decors on a lion. To get to the Lion Equipper, you have 2 options: the first being from the page of the lion that you wish to decorate. From that page, scroll down to 'Equipped Decorations' and select 'Hide/Show', then select 'Use Lion Equipper'.

Alternatively, you can visit the Scrying Stone from Crossroads. At the bottom of the Scrying Stone page, you will come across 'The Lion Equipper'.

Click it and you will be taken to the following screen.

Select the lion that you wish to decorate from the dropdown menu, and then 'Equip My Lion'.
Using the Lion Equipper
Once on the Lion Equipper page, you'll be greeted with a preview of your lion as well as a list of your unburied backgrounds and decorations (these will appear as 'stacked'). For this part of the tutorial, we'll use my lion, Violette Royale.

As you can see, he has no decorations, nor does he have a background. So, let's start by giving him a background!
To do this, we'll need to select the 'Backgrounds' tab. Here we can see all of our backgrounds, as well as a search bar. In this case, we're looking to apply the background, 'Milky Way'.

Now that the background has been found, we're going to select it. This will then apply it to our lion's preview, and it will also appear under the 'Equipped' section on the right!

There, he's looking much more stylish already!

Howeverrrrrr, he's lacking in the decor department. So let's switch over to the 'Decorations' tab where we'll find all of our available decor!

From here we can browse and apply decorations. Once applied, they'll become visible within the 'Equipped' section; in this instance, these are our results:

Looks a lot more fun, doesn't he? BUT WAIT. That sword placements looks a little silly, doesn't it? We can either remove it by pressing the 'x' for it, or we can use the arrows to change where it is in the decor order! Let's move it to be placed above the wings!

There, that's much better! Now that we're done, we're going to select 'Save changes'. This will give us a notification and a link to our lion. Additionally, our decors' uses have now dropped by 1, and they're no longer visible in our Hoard due to their equipped state.

Now that you've helped decorate Violette Royale, it's time for you to go decorate your own lions. Go give it a try!
FAQ & Known Issues
There are a small handful of decor-related situations that are claimed to be bugs but are not! Before creating a Bug Box report, please read through this list!
- Q: Why did my lion's decor disappear?
A: If your lion ran away due to hunger or low mood, all of its decor became unequipped, and you'll have to reapply it. - Q: Why is the decor I unequipped not in my Hoard?
A: The decor likely had 1 use left when it was equipped, meaning that upon being unequipped, it was retired due to having 0 uses left. - Q: Will my lion's decor become unequipped if I transfer it to someone else?
A: Nope! Be sure to remove your decor from your lion before transferring unless you'd like to transfer your decor too!
Known Issues
- Q: Why is my decor appearing as a question mark, not at all, or incorrectly?
A #1: If the decor is new, it's likely that not all of the files have been updated yet.
A #2: If your lion has a new pose (such as Spirited), it's likely that the decor you've selected is not yet compatible with that pose. In this scenario, you may want to use a different pose, or use that decor on a different lion.
A #3: If your lion has a mutation, there is a good chance that standard decor won't be compatible.
A #4: If none of the above apply, try clearing your cache! - Q: Why is the decor for the thumbnail of my King/Queen flipped?
A: This is a known issue tied with the Spirited Pose. Unfortunately, there is no fix for it at this time, but there are existing Bug Reports so our coders are aware!
