March Event (Anti-Poaching)

History Report

Oh no! Poachers have swept through the plains of Lioden, hell bent on slaying the wild beasts that roam there and bringing home bloody trophies to sell on the black market. But these are YOUR lands, and these are YOUR companions they dare to slay! Go forth young lions and fight off these evil humans wherever you can.

Event Information

This event is highly focused on exploring and battling.
The explore encounters exclusive to this month can be found in all biomes.
Your lion's karma and level, as well as the biome you explore in, do not matter for this event.

In March, the community is working to unlock three tiers of one bar.
The more poachers are chased off or defeated in Explore, the faster the Black Market will unlock. Chasing off and defeating poachers will earn you Prevent Points, which are automatically counted towards the Black Market's unlock bar.

This month's currency is Rhino Beetles.
Rhino Beetles can be gained in Explore. You can also earn Rhino Beetles and Prevent Points (which help unlock the Black Market) by playing Poacher Chase.

The March event launches on March 1st at 12am Lioden time and will end on March 31st at 11:59pm Lioden time. All unused event currency will be stored on your account until the next year.

Disclaimer: This event contains sensitive images that may be triggering for players due to their graphic nature. You will find yourself facing off against poachers just as many animals do in reality. Poacher Chase

Poacher Chase is an endless runner-type minigame that is exclusively available during March's event. It is able to be played as soon as the March event begins at 12am Lioden time on March 1st!

Within Poacher Chase, you play a male lion that is trying to escape the poachers that are harming animals within the environment around you. There are obstacles that you need to avoid, Rhino Beetles to collect, and as you earn points and progress through the game, the lion runs faster and faster!

You can submit your score once per day to earn up to a maximum of 40 Rhino Beetles per day—if you play Poacher Chase each day and hit the maximum score every time, that's roughly an additional 1,240 Rhino Beetles for you to spend! There is no maximum cap for Prevent Points earned, as the amount you earn is 10% of the number of obstacles you successfully clear. Score sending for Poacher Chase resets at midnight (12am) Lioden time, not at rollover (2:05am).

Explore Encounters

A baby elephant is rubbing its head against dead mother's body, clearly murdered by poachers.

Nudge	You approach the calf and try to nudge it, encouraging it to let go of the mom. You can smell the scattered elephant group in the distance, so you push the scared baby towards that direction. Wait	Taking a decision to wait it out, you hide nearby until the baby wanders away towards a distant elephant noise, probably a scattered herd. Quietly, so the elephants won't punish you, you sneak to the carcass, trying to gather some food from the open parts of the body.	+2 Rhino Beetles +2 Medium Meat Chunk

A bucking African wild ass has just crossed your path! This rare donkey must have travelled far, searching for a true wilderness to call home.

Pounce	You wiggle your rump in the air and leap at the animal while its back is turned towards you! As you're both falling to the ground, you give its throat a long, powerful bite. Your day is made - donkey meat is delicious!	-2 Karma +1 Rhino Beetle +1 Donkey Carcass

A creature is climbing a safou tree, shaking it a little. It seems that insects are feeding on the tree's rotting fruit. What a perfect spot for the tree pangolin!

Shake the Tree	You stretch up and sharpen your claws on the bark. The tree shakes, disturbing the pangolin, who is now holding on tightly in fear of being eaten. Something small falls down onto the ground, and it's not a fruit!	-2 Karma +2 Rhino Beetles +1 Pangolin Scale
Search the Ground	You decide to scope the area, curious if there's anything here other than rotting fruit, flies, and ants. Bird droppings... hm. But, hey! You find some scales scattered below the tree trunk.	+2 Pangolin Scales
Dig Around	You sniff around the tree trunk and listen closely. There's something crunching below the surface, between the tree's roots. You wouldn't have guessed the source, if not for the line of ants crawling out of a small hole nearby. You dig furiously, uncovering a large ant nest! The pangolin gets excited about this rich dinner and gives you something in gratitude.	+2 Karma +2 Rhino Beetles +1 Pangolin Scale

A distressed long-tailed pangolin is wiggling around among the branches. You notice it's entangled in a poaching net and is having trouble climbing properly.

Grab the Rope	You stretch out to the very tips of your toes, trying to reach the net. You manage to catch it with your claw and gently pull it off from between the sharp scales. The pangolin is very grateful!	+1 Karma +2 Rhino Beetles +1 Prevent Point
Grab the Tail	You decide it's more convenient for you to take advantage of the animal's current condition. You try to pull it down, but the more you pull at its tail, the more entangled it becomes. A familiar and tasty scent lures you to a nearby tree, where you find a nest full of young chicks. Upon closer inspection you notice that all the birds are dead. Luckily they haven't been dead for long, as their scent is still quite strong and fresh.

Take the nest	You lower your head to sniff the birds. They would make for a tasty snack, but there's something odd about the smell of these chicks. You decide to pass, knowing there will be better opportunities later. The nest, however, is a different story. A giant pangolin is waddling towards a termite mound. It does not seem bothered by your presence.

A grey parrot flies straight at you. It doesn't seem to notice you. Watch out!

A group of people appears in a safe distance from you and they seem to free an animal from a trap. They leave in a machine, leaving you to think.. Maybe not all humans are so bad.

A huge rhino relaxes with its eyes partially closed, apparently enjoying the moment. It doesn't seem to mind the fact that it's missing its horns. You notice that they've been painlessly removed at the base.

Investigate	Horns or not, the rhino is still big enough to crush you if it wants to, but it doesn't seem like that's going to happen. The rhino continues to relax, letting you approach as close as you want. Suddenly, a strange scent catches your attention, leading you to a pile of bones...human bones. You can't resist taking them. These are perfect for a spooky bedtime story for the cubs!	+1 Human Bones
	The rhino seems to be ignoring you, letting you wander around as much as you want. Even without the horn it's still intimidating, but it doesn't mean you any harm and its lack of care gives you enough time to comb the area and find something useful.	+1 Rhino Beetle +1 Wattle
	You hesitate at first but the rhino doesn't seem to care and lets you move as close as you dare. It takes you a while to relax, but eventually you manage to enjoy yourself and engage in a nice chat. The rhino eventually moves off, leaving some beetles behind in thanks for your company.	+1 Rhino Beetle
Vibe together	It's not often that you meet a rhino that is so relaxed and non-threatening, so you approach carefully, standing side by side in a similar pose, letting the warm wind caress your fur. The rhino gives you a side eye but continues to relax, accepting your presence silently.	+1 Rhino Beetle +1% Impression

A huge tree is covered in blood that catches your attention. There's a human poacher pinned to the bark with a broken elephant tusk. Instant karma, they say.

A lone antelope is wading in the water, lowering its head from time to time to take a sip. It doesn't hear you through the splashing sounds.

Enter the water	The longer you observe the antelope, the more you want to join it just to cool yourself off a little bit. Upon entering the water, the antelope runs away in panic, splashing around loudly. However, it doesn't ruin your mood, and you decide to stay here for a while and enjoy the moment. Enter the water	You don't have any malicious intentions and you certainly didn't expect the antelope to run away in such panic that it dampened your fur! At this point, you decide to stay a little longer, enjoying the light reflections dancing on the surface of the water. Catch	Step by step, you approach the antelope using your best stalking techniques. You have a feeling that the creature wouldn't react even if you casually approached it, but you still don't want to take any chances. A lonely oryx calf is calling for its mom; obviously lost after running away from predators or poachers.

Nudge It	Wanting to save the baby for future tasty offspring, you roar at the calf, but it freezes in fear. You nudge it towards a bushy area, where finally the oryx dashes into.	+1 Karma +3 Rhino Beetles +1% Impression

A long-tailed, dark silhouette dashes in front of your eyes. It's a blue monkey having fun running around, but you cannot tell what its purpose is! Maybe there is a deeper meaning in this activity?

Observe	Thinking that the monkey's behavior may be a warning sign or any other information that could be helpful, you decide to wait in the distance and observe it. However, the longer you watch, the less you understand because there doesn't appear to be any danger nearby. Perhaps you two are just too different. What's more, you see that the monkey lost something and you decide to steal it before it finds it again.	+2 Rhino Beetles
Join	You observe the monkey for a while but you realize that the only way to understand it is to join it! You start running nearby the creature, trying to see if it changes anything about its behavior. The monkey seems to be in a good mood, enjoying the company even more when it realizes that you aren't going to eat it. While this experience doesn't reveal anything new to you, it was a nice exercise to keep your body stretched and ready for anything else that may happen.	+1 Rhino Beetle +5% Energy

A male Nile Lechwe is checking out his surroundings. The presence of a nearby male challenger has his nerves so frayed that he doesn't even notice you.

Roar	You let out a deep, low roar to startle the antelope. This starts a chain reaction as a number of other Lechwes suddenly erupt from the bushes, hightailing it out of there, followed by an explosion of birds taking to the sky. A roar in the sky caught your interest, and as a curious kitty you followed the noise to find a huge machine monster in a clearing. Human scent is fresh, but they already left.

Investigate	You check out the monster with your scent, sight, paws and teeth. It's not really nommable, so after scratching your claws against the machine, you leave it very broken, not knowing it will cut the poacher's way home. A saker falcon swoops by, hunting some feral pigeons. You imagine yourself as a great army leader with this beautiful bird on your shoulder.

A small rodent with thin legs and long tail sits on the rocks, listening carefully to all of the various nighttime sounds. It hasn't noticed you yet.

Observe	Observing the tiny rodent for a while is a nice relaxing distraction, and you find that you enjoy this more than the idea of eating it. At least for now. Observe	You decide to stay hidden, observing the gerbil. You have some spare time and you're not that hungry, so trying to guess what the rodent is going to do next is a fun distraction for a bit. Grab	These tiny creatures are fast as wind and catching them is actually a challenge you're ready to take on. You must keep your senses sharp at all times!	+1 Rhino Beetle +1 Gerbil Carcass

A small spotted genet runs towards you, sniffing the ground with a focused expression. The creature is so absorbed with what it's doing that it doesn't pay any attention to you.

Follow	You recognize this behavior at once. The creature is either being secretive about something or it has found something worth further investigation. You follow the genet, somehow managing to stay hidden until the last moment when it starts to dig in the ground. Follow	You wait for the perfect moment to start following the genet and try to stay hidden. You are as silent as a shadow, but the creature somehow feels your presence and quickly runs away, changing direction. You try to find its hiding spot, but you don't succeed. A small Zebra Duiker is limping towards a safe place to hide in.

A tiny rat climbs up a dry branch, sniffing the air. When it notices you, it tries to turn around and hide as fast as it can.

Break the branch	You try to get to the rat by breaking the branch, but you lose sight of the rodent as the branch crashes to the ground. The rat is nowhere to be found, but these sticks that broke off from the branch will be useful later.	+1 Rhino Beetle +3 Stick
Bite	You try a few times to find the perfect position to pounce on the rat and dispatch it in one bite. Every time you're about to jump, the creature changes its position, infuriating you beyond your limits. You eventually lose your patience and jump anyway, missing terribly. Bite	You wait for the perfect moment to catch the rat with a single bite. It takes a while but it's worth it when you feel its juicy flesh between your teeth.	+1 Rhino Beetle +1 Rat Carcass

A tiny, shivering caracal cub is in front of you, scared to death and orphaned due to poaching.

Approach	You move closer, trying to see what you're dealing with. The caracal kitten cries in fear and tumbles over a slope, falling onto the rocks below. Maybe it was for the best, it's not like it would survive alone..	-1 Karma +1 Caracal Skull
Shake Mane	You shake your mane with a manly roar, trying to show the cub to stop crying and man up. Times are tough, but he needs to carry on!	+1% Impression
Snarl	You growl at the cub, catching its attention. It seems to crawl closer and curls up on top of your paws, seeking warmth. You let it rest in the safe presence of your powerful claws, protecting it for the rest of the day, until you both part ways.	+1 Karma +2% Impression

A weird construction can be seen even from afar, and you decide to approach it. You can sense something strange about this barrier, and it's not just because of the way it looks. Better not get too close, just in case.

Investigate	A calming silence surrounds you, which is peaceful and odd. You don't hear or sense anything on the other side. It seems as if no animal wants to be close to this weird fence, which your own instincts warn you against venturing too close. It's quiet here, and perfect for a nap. 	It's very quiet on both sides of the fence. It seems that nothing wants to get too close and you trust your senses to stay away from it. You use this time to search the nearby area carefully. While you don't find much, the silence has a calming effect.	+1 Rhino Beetle +5% Energy
	You don't hear or sense any large animals nearby, which is unusual. It's as if nothing wants to get near this fence. You decide to keep your distance as well. Knowing that no one will disturb you, you use the opportunity to take your time exploring the area. You find some beetles sitting in what must be a human footprint! Humans must visit this place often, so it's probably best to leave.	+2 Rhino Beetles

An ensnared Ethiopian Wolf is growling at you as you come near.

Try to Free It	While the wolf is yowling at you in fear, you try to break the snare. You finally figure out where you have to sink your claws and pull really hard and it opens just enough for the animal to make a run for it. It didn't even thank you. End Its Suffering	You crush the wolf's ribcage with your mighty paw, feeling the last wheeze of life escape under your weight.	-3 Karma +2 Rhino Beetles +2% Impression

Behold! An ancient primal spirit has possessed this shaman! "Finally, I've found the strong lion I've been seeking. The spirits are disturbed, joined suddenly by the ones who were killed as mere trophies... too early, too many." She speaks deeply in her trance, whilst a feral spirit begins to manifest before your very eyes.

Listen	"The hunters shall become the hunted. These humans must pay the price for their cruel, evil deeds. You must spawn a cub that will be used as the tool for our revenge. This tool will let us, the ancient spirits, rise up in the form of a Ferus, to bring a devastating end to all poaching." The shaman approaches you and hands you a pouch of herbs. NOTE: This encounter will only have a chance of appearing once Tier Two of the Black Market is unlocked. It is an extremely rare encounter; however, upon unlocking Tier Three of the Black Market, it will become slightly more common to come across. Easily mistaken for stone from a distance, a nearly motionless tortoise lies huddled under a shrub. It seems to be ignoring everything and everyone, but it's hard to know for sure with its unchanging expression.

Grab	You quickly snatch the tortoise up. Easy snacks are the best! You keep your energy stored up for more challenging tasks.	+1 Small Tortoise
Chill	You try to relax in the same spot as the tortoise but you're too big and the shrub branches painfully prick your skin. Close to giving up, you notice something next to the tortoise, and swipe it up and head on your way without a second glance at the dinosaur.	+2 Rhino Beetles

Gasp! This huge rhino has noticed you, but thankfully it does not seem to be aggressive.

Approach	You sit down in the shadow of the colossal animal and rub your head against its belly, doing your best to show your good intentions. The animal huffs, but lets you rest, protecting you as you feed. It's quite sad there aren't many rhinos left to share such moments with.	+2 Rhino Beetles +5% Energy

Gasp! This is unbelievable! A true Atlas Lion wandered here, maybe all the way from the Atlas Mountains. Could it be a lion reintroduced to the wild? Or maybe they're not extinct after all? Either way he looks like a massive guy.

Admire	You take a step back and sit down to check out that giant mane, catching a small break. As the male wanders around and roars deeply, you can feel the tremble in your lungs which sends shivers down your spine. This guy better produce some amazing cubs in the future. It would be awesome to see Atlas lions running around!	+1 Karma +5% Energy

High pitched squeaks catch your attention, revealing a lonely rhino. It wanders away from its mom's corpse, which is sadly missing its horn.

Take Chance	You decide to take a risk and attack the baby rhino. Would've been a great easy meal, but you suddenly notice another agitated rhino defending the baby.	See below for further actions.
Attack!	Initiates a battle with a Rhino.	Acts as a regular battle, so you can gain SB, Experience, and Impression if the battle is won. No Rhino Beetles are awarded for this battle.
Hide	Not taking a risk, you decide to hide in the bushes. A male rhino shows up and sniffs the corpse before leaving with the baby. Once they've gone, you investigate the carcass.	+1 Rhino Carcass +1 Rhino Skull
Growl	You let a loud short growl. The baby animal jumps and scurries away, running to hide behind a Rhino Bull that emerges from the bushveld. You decide to go around and find a nice compensation for the lost meal.	+1 Hirola Carcass

Investigating whimpering noises, you find a dirt patch with a dead serval strangled in a trap. A little cub is trying to pull her out, not realizing this is over.

Sit Nearby	You sit down a few meters away and observe the cub with compassion. It decides to curl next to you and doesn't protest when you lick blood off of its head. The cub will learn how to avoid traps for the future and teach its own offspring as well.	+4 Karma +4% Impression
Growl	A heartless scoundrel, you growl at the cub in hopes of shooing it away. It won't go, so you end its misery. Clingy wimps won't survive in the wild.	-2 Karma +1 Serval Skull +1 Serval Tail

Looks like this rare Addax calf got injured in a trap, but there's also a weird human-made healing wrap around its leg. The distress moans make your teeth itch.

Traps

Some of the encounters shown above have a low chance to be trapped, which will lead to an "It's a Trap!" message being displayed. These encounters have been marked with notes indicating they can be trapped. If an encounter does not say it has a chance to be a trap, it will not trap you.

These traps do not affect your karma and will replace whichever result you would have normally received from the action you chose for an encounter.

Depending on the encounter, if your pride leader's level is lower than 6, they will automatically be trapped! The results are randomised throughout traps.
