Ready for a good fight? Well, you might find those tips useful…

Lioden has introduced complex battling system in October 2014. Since then, your lion needs to make up a good strategy instead of clicking random buttons! In this tutorial you'll get to know which moves work best on which NPCs and more!

Battling Interface

Let's concentrate on the Battling UI first.

XjawijO.png

When you enter a battle with your opponent, you'll notice a few things:

Avatar images Display your king & your opponent's avatar images, along with their names next to them.
Stat bonus/penalty Determined by your king's stats. Different opponents display different stat factor. The higher your stat factor is, the bigger bonus you shall acquire in the battle, which will help you fighting your enemy. Please note that when your stats are low, your opponent might have better stats, which will help THEM in the battle against you, duh. The amount of arrows determines how big the bonus or penalty is. If it faces your king's name, it means you have better stat factor than your enemy has, and thus you'll be the one that starts the fight. How fierce are you?
The Health Bars The darker colour determines how empty your health bar is. If it turns all dark, you'll lose the fight. If your enemy's health bar turns all dark, it means you've won!
The image of Enemy The Image of the enemy that is currently fighting you.
The Battle Buttons (explained below)
The Text Area Informs you about the damage you do to your opponent and vice-versa. Once the fight ends, it will notify you of what you've acquired/lost from the battle.

Battle Buttons

Once you start a battle, you'll see five moves & a Flee button. The ones that appear on the beginning of the fight are considered to be the "Opening Moves". They are usually the most powerful attacks you can do, so choose wisely. You can use them max 2 times per battle (One at the beginning, and one after using the "Rest" button).

Charge A powerful opening move that deals high damage and potentially stuns the victim. Effective on enemies with thin skin.
Pounce An opening move that deals moderate damage and potentially grabs the victim.
Trample A powerful opening move that deals potentially huge damage, depending on the opponent's size. Effective on small enemies.
Roar A warning roar that can make the more cowardly enemies freeze in fear or even run away. Make sure this move won't make your aggressive enemy even more upset!
Rest Rest a bit to regain health and restart the battle from distance; can be used only once per encounter. Allows to make an opening move once again. Be wary though, as some large enemies may take the opportunity to stun you.
Flee Allows you to flee the battle & lose 5% energy.

After an Opening Move is made, you can choose between the following moves to continue the battle:

Bite A standard combat move that deals low-to-moderate damage and has a small chance of grabbing the opponent.
Swipe Standard combat move that deals moderate damage.
Grab Standard combat move that deals very little damage but has a high chance of grabbing the victim.

If you manage to Grab your enemy, you'll see the following moves, until the opponent is released from your grasp:

Pound A clinch move that deals moderate damage and potentially stuns the victim.
Claw A clinch move that deals high damage, especially versus targets with soft skin.
Kick A clinch move that deals moderate damage that scales up well against large and tough enemies.
Strangle A clinch move that deals varied damage and immobilizes the opponent until they break free.
Release Release an opponent from a clinch if it turns out to be disadvantageous.
Flee Allows you to flee the battle & lose 5% energy.

Having Issues?

Are you having issues with the system? If the window is frozen or no buttons appear, please ensure that javascript is enabled in your browser. Plugins that block scripts should be disabled one by one and the page refreshed until it loads again. If after doing this you are still encountering a problem, you may use the Flee button on the bottom of the battling page, but please make sure to file a bug report as well as a screenshot of the error you are experiencing.
