This part of the story is only available if you've chosen the "I will kill the Poachers" option during Chapter 1!

Day 1

Despite her sadness, there's a spark behind Mutsivi's eyes at your decision.

"Kutsiva is all-powerful, [NAME]. You won't regret your choice. His vengeance matches your own and he will be happy to aid you in taking down the poachers. Come; all we need to do is to reignite the mound and take part in another trance."

Mutsivi makes her way to the mound and turns to you.

I'm ready
Page 1

As if by some unspoken agreement, the lionesses gather around the mound again and begin another song. Their melody is haunting and eerie and creates an entirely different energy than before.

It's a song of hurt and anger and pure desperation. A song of mourning.

Mutsivi's voice rises above the rest in an agonizing wail while the voices of the other lionesses fall silent. Hissing steam rises from the mound as it begins to smolder.

Add your voice to Mutsivi's
Page 2

As soon as your own voice joins the lionesses', the mound explodes in a fiery burst of sparks as smoke billows away from the pyre.

Kutsiva appears in the smoke as before, just as imposing as you remember.

"Kutsiva! Hear me. We have found the poachers' den. Help us avenge our pride mate Tsunga and all of the innocent animals these horrible creatures have taken from us."

Look up at Kutsiva
Page 3

Kutsiva turns and locks eyes with you, a question in his fiery gaze. After a moment he roars and leaps toward you, his smoky essence twisting through your body.

Though the smoke is odorless, it is no less choking--your throat constricts as you hack and cough, and convulsions wrack your body. The pain is so intense until... it's not. It's gone in a blink, replaced by a surge of strength and rage.

Energy thrums through your body, aching to be let out!

Accept your newfound strength
Page 4

Mutsivi's eyes gleam with pleasure.

"Feel that? It's a lot, I know--how about you go and get used to things? I'm sure Kutsiva's spirit is itching to take revenge. I can see it in your eyes."

You have not fulfilled your task yet. 0/20 poachers defeated.

Page 5

To complete this quest, you must defeat 20 poachers in battle. You can find the eligible poacher battle encounters here: Bush of Phundundu - Poacher Encounters.

You can view your progress after each battle on the Bush of Phundundu page. With each won battle, the points towards this quest will be added, and if you defeat more poachers in a battle, then you will receive additional points towards your progress! Time to kick some poacher butts, once again.

Note: You can't use Lucky Feet in these battles. Additionally, you will receive a "Trance" effect boost during these poacher battles (from +2 to +5 additional damage per attack)!

Once you have completed the task, return to Mutsivi, and click the "They've been defeated!" button.

When you return to Mutsivi, pride is written all over her features.

"Brilliant! It takes courage to fight these battles, much less allow yourself to be a vessel. I'm sure you can feel Kutsiva's pleasure."

She purrs as she looks you over approvingly.

"You've done well, and now it's time to rest and recover your strength. We've only just started!"

Day 2

"[NAME]! There you are!" Mutsivi practically bowls you over, her eyes fearful.

"It's not good. All those poachers you took down yesterday? Their friends have come to seek revenge; they keep coming in groups and shooting at any lion they see. Please, please help us and get rid of them!"

You have not fulfilled your task yet. 0/5 poacher bosses defeated.

Page 6

To complete this quest, you must defeat 5 poacher bosses in battle. Currently, two enemies are considered bosses for this story: Jeep and Truck. The most effective move towards these enemies is Kick. In order to inititate a Kick, you must first Grab the enemy.

You can view your progress after each battle on the Bush of Phundundu page. With each won battle, +1 point will be given towards this quest's progress.

Note: You can't use Lucky Feet in these battles. Additionally, you will receive a "Trance" effect boost during these poacher battles (from +2 to +5 additional damage per attack)!

Once you have completed the task, return to Mutsivi, and click the "It's done" button.

Mutsivi lets out a sigh of relief.

"Thank goodness. Still, we aren't out of the woods yet... they weren't just shooting at us, [NAME]. They tried to get into our den and steal our cubs!" She chokes on the last words, her eyes wide.

"We need to make sure all are accounted for... come back tomorrow and we'll regroup."

Day 3

This time when you look for Mutsivi, you find her trying to console Shinga. Both lionesses are afraid, that much is clear. Had the poachers come back despite your efforts?

"They took cubs, [NAME]. They TOOK them!" Mutsivi wails, and Shinga looks at you with pleading eyes.

"They'll take my cubs next, and they're so close to being born... we have to stop them. They must all die." Shinga was so set on a path of peace... but the threat looming over her cubs has hardened her heart.

What else can we do?
Page 7

"There's a stew we can make... once it goes into effect, Kutsiva will fully take over your body and his true fury will be released," Mutsivi explains. "But I need more marula fruit. You've done so much for us already, but can you help find some?"

Donate Herb: Marula Fruit

0/20 Marula Fruit donated.

You have not fulfilled your task yet.

Page 8

To complete this quest, you must donate 20 Marula Fruit (full items). These herbs can be found commonly in Explore, or can be obtained via Herb Bundles or by purchasing them from the Beetle Grounds.

You can view your progress after each battle on the Bush of Phundundu page. You do not have to donate them all at once.

Once you have completed the task, return to Mutsivi, and click the "Help Mutsivi with the stew" button.

With the final ingredients added, Mutsivi finishes the stew and offers it to you. Well, time to hold your breath and gulp it down--there's no way this thing is going to taste good!

It burns going down your throat and, wincing, you look at Mutsivi as she shoves a sausage flower at you.

"When you're in the camp, eat this and brace yourself. Once you do, Kutsiva will take control. It will be strange, as if you're a passenger... but don't worry. We'll follow from a safe distance to make sure you remain unharmed."

Travel to the camp
Page 8a

You set off in the direction of the camp, mentally preparing yourself. Kutsiva's spirit stirs inside of you, and you can feel his rage. Your senses are overwhelmed with a bloodlust wholly unfamiliar to anything you've ever experienced.

Kutsiva has had years to build his rage, and it's so palpable that you're sure you can taste it. It's hot and cold, tangy and rusty. The taste of ancient blood.

Succumb to the rage
Page 9

Visions flicker in front of your eyes, as if you're experiencing them yourself. Animals of all types lay suffering in cages, injured in traps, and hunted endlessly. Rage bubbles beneath the surface and only grows stronger with each vision that flashes in front of your eyes.

This is what the ancient spirit has seen, felt, and yes, remembered over the years. The poachers bring nothing but death and destruction.

Keep moving forward
Page 10

Day turns to night as you trek across the land, farther than you've ever been before. At last you can see glowing lights and hear the poachers' racket up ahead. You've found the camp!

Far behind but not far enough that they aren't visible, the rest of the Nzira pride follows your lead. They are with you until the end.

The only way is forward
Page 11

Moving quietly, you hide just outside the camp where you can monitor their routines. Using the information the lionesses have gathered will be indispensable here--you can't just barge in, after all.

Waiting for a moment of quiet, you creep around the encampment in the shadows and make your way to the center without being seen.

Quiet, quiet...
Page 12

The camp is like a maze, but it gives you the opportunity to destroy anything and everything that the poachers use to hurt animals.

Guns are easily torn apart in your powerful jaws and crushed under your paws, and a feeling of satisfaction fills your heart. Kutsiva is pleased, too. You even manage to find some traps stashed along the way and rip the mechanisms apart so that they are left useless.

At last, you reach the center of the camp and crouch behind a building to observe. The humans are wonderfully oblivious as they dance and eat. It's time.

Eat the flower
Page 13

As you gulp the flower down, you feel the spirit surge to the front and overtake every sense with its rage. You allow your consciousness to step back and with a hot, searing flash that strangely doesn't hurt, Kutsiva takes form. You are no longer in control of your body--you are simply an observer, and it's time to watch the show.

Take your revenge!
Page 14

With a roar, Kutsiva plows into the center of the congregation of people and begins his reign of terror. No one is safe from him. He mauls every single poacher in sight as blood soaks into the ground and the smell of death permeates the air. Kutsiva's rage knows no bounds, and as he tears into the poachers until only stragglers have run off, he turns with a bloody smile and takes off after everyone who fled.

No one survives!
Page 15

The remaining poachers have scattered, fanning out in the camp and desperately looking for their guns. But their sticks of death are useless, thanks to you. They pick them up anyway and try and swing at Kutsiva to no avail. He easily dispatches those who remain until the camp is eerily silent.

Look around
Page 16

Looking around, Kutsiva's rage dissipates and is instead replaced with a feeling of satisfaction. The poachers are no more!

Blinking rapidly, you find yourself back with your body as Kutsiva's spirit retreats. Blood covers your paws, jaws, fur... everything, as if you had done it all. It will take weeks to get the blood out, but it was worth it.

"[NAME]!"

Turn to Mutsivi
Page 17

The Nzira pride floods into the camp with shrieks of joy and snarls of triumph, lead by Mutsivi.

"You did it, [NAME]! You did it!" She pounces on you and grapples you in a hug with a laugh.

The rest of the lionesses spread out over the camp and begin destroying anything they can get their paws on. Soon, it's all dust beneath their paws. Happy roars ring out as they stumble upon the lost cubs captured in cages and work together to get them out.

Look to home
Page 18

At last, it is time to return with the pride to their home. You feel exhaustion with every paw step, but the lionesses never leave your side. They let you rest when needed, and hunt for you. The journey is long, but the happiness of the lionesses is contagious. They're practically walking on air as you all make your way back to the comfort of home.

Settle in
Page 19

It feels good to be back in a familiar place. The lionesses circle around you, purring and patting you on the back. Glancing around, you see Shinga in the back with the other lionesses and their cubs who had stayed back in safety. She looks relieved and leans down to nuzzle one of the pride's cubs. Her swollen belly tells you that she will have her own soon.

Mutsivi pushes her way past the others and beams at you.

"You are a hero, [NAME]. Now it's time for one final trance so that Kutsiva can be at peace and you can have your mortal body all to yourself again."

Prepare for the trance
Page 20

You sit down heavily, and Mutsivi and the other lionesses gather around you. They begin to hum, and gradually become louder and more expressive in their song. It vibrates within you and beneath your paws, soaking into your soul. Lulled into a state of pure bliss, you very nearly fall asleep and miss the highlight of the show--Kutsiva!

Bow your head
Page 21

Kutsiva's form is clear and visible, not as hazy as it once was. Power radiates from him, and he turns to you.

"Thank you for everything, [NAME]. It was not easy, but it had to happen. They are not reasonable creatures. Now they know that if they continue on their path of destruction, they will be met with vengeance."

Kutsiva roars into the sky, and the lionesses cheer. Shinga can be seen at the edge of the group. She looks happy overall, but you can see the sadness in her eyes--Tsunga is still gone.

My lord, what about Tsunga?
Page 22

Glancing at Shinga and then back at you, Kutsiva smiles.

"Your concern for your friend is admirable. Don't worry--Tsunga will come when the pride calls to their ancestors. Shinga will see her sister again, and be able to show her the cubs she brings into this safe world."

You look at Shiva with a knowing smile. Her sister may not be physically here anymore, but she will live on.

End the trance
Page 23

All of a sudden you're jerking awake, as if from a deep slumber. Pulling yourself to your paws, you cough and shake off the ash and embers that had showered from the pyre.

Mutsivi laughs. "Did you inhale too much smoke?" Her eyes sparkle with knowing, and even though you haven't uttered a word, Mutsivi knows you spoke with Kutsiva.

"He is a great spirit, and does not abandon those who help him. He won't leave you now; expect an extra set of eyes on your pride. Who knows, maybe some cubs of yours will even turn out looking like him!" Amusement glints in her eyes as you get to your paws.

I need to get home
Page 24

"That you do. Thank you for everything, [NAME]. Truly." Mutsivi bumps her head with your own and purrs happily. "Take this, too. It's the least we can do. Don't be a stranger. I'm sure Shinga will expect you to come and see her cubs soon."

She turns with a smile and rejoins her pride as you look toward home.
