SB is only taken when the lever is pulled and you get a successful spin. If you put SB in and don’t pull the lever, or you pull the lever and get told you are out of turns, your SB will be returned.
How to Play
As is mentioned in the above blurb, all you have to do is click the hole where it says "Insert 50 SB to play", then click the lever, and the slots will spin!
If you lose, you'll see the screen below, with text that reads, "Sorry... you didn't win anything this time."

You can spin the slot machine five times per hour. This timer resets as soon as it rolls over to the next hour, meaning if you spin at 2:45pm LDT, 2:47pm LDT, 2:49pm LDT, 2:50pm LDT, and 2:55pm LDT, you'll be able to spin five times again starting at 3:00pm LDT.
