The May storyline, introduced in 2017, is a minor addition to the May event. Within this storyline, you meet brothers V'Kai and Vashkartzen.

Chapters

As of May 2017, the Championships event has its own storyline involving V'Kai and Vashkartzen. The storyline begins with Chapter 1 unlocking on May 1st at 12:00am Lioden time. Each subsequent chapter is unlocked when the Champion Shop's tiers unlock, up until Chapter 5, which unlocks automatically on May 25th at 12:00am Lioden time.

For ease of convenience, the chapters have been split up into their own separate pages. Please click on the individual button images to be taken to that chapter's page.

Daily Quest Pool

Every quest that you complete with the brothers will grant you a certain amount of Arena Tokens and Reputation with that chosen brother. Each brother has his own Reputation Shop as well as unique rewards that you can buy with Reputation.

All players start off siding with V'Kai, until Chapter 2 of the storyline unlocks—from that point, you then have the choice to side with V'Kai or Vashkartzen. You are able to switch between brothers up until the end of Chapter 4, where your choice will remain permanent through the end of the May event.

Reputation is not carried over between brothers. If you side with V'Kai, then switch to Vashkartzen, any Reputation you earned with V'Kai will stay with V'Kai. Switching between V'Kai and Vashkartzen will not reset your Reputation with a specific brother, however—you will retain that Reputation until the end of the May event, as Reputation is wiped each year.

V'Kai

Once you have finished Chapter 1, you are able to complete daily quests in order to receive extra rewards.

The daily quests reset upon rollover, and you can take the quests again the following day. You are able to take all four quests at the same time and work on them throughout the day.

"Heyyy [NAME]! Awesome to see you again, bro! Looking for something to do?"

Defeat 5 Lions

"I am sure you'll gain a ton of fans if you defeat 5 lions during daily exploring."

In order to complete this quest, you must win 5 total battles against any NPC that is categorised as a lion. All May lion NPCs count towards this quest.

Sweeeeet! As always! +5 Arena Tokens, +8 Reputation

Claim 5 Lionesses

"If you show off how to claim lionesses, everyone in the Arena will be jelly. How about five ladies?"

In order to complete this quest, you must claim 5 total NCLs from Explore. The easiest way to complete this would be to use a Catnip on your lion to attract more NCL encounters for 30 minutes.
Once you claim them, you are free to do with them as you please. You do not need to hold onto the NCLs once they are claimed.

Good job, bro! Was kinda hoping you'd pick me.. HA HA HA kidding!!! +20 Arena Tokens, +15 Reputation

Lose in the Arena

"Dude just join the Arena, I don't care if you lose. But if you do, I will find something to cheer you up."

In order to complete this quest, you must lose a tournament in the Battle Arena. Losing a challenge with another player does not count for this.

Aw man, it's okay bro. Here... I used to console my bro with a hug like that! (V'Kai bumps his head against your jaw and snugs his entire back and tail under it like a clingy cat.) Aaaand also few tokens to try again, maybe you'll win next time! +5 Arena Tokens, +5 Reputation

Win in the Arena

"BRO. If you win on the Arena I will freaking lose it."

In order to complete this quest, you must win a tournament round in the Battle Arena. Winning a challenge with another player does not count for this. You do not have to win all three tournament rounds—only one round will count for this.

Oh. My. God. That was INSANE. You were like ROOOAR and he was like GROOOOWWWLL and you smacked and kicked and AHHH!! +10 Arena Tokens, +10 Reputation

V'Kai's Rewards

Groupies

Arguably the best reward during May is the ability to claim groupies. Groupies are randomly-generated lions that can come with special bases, mutations, and markings (they will always come with two markings randomly placed in slots 1 to 10). All groupies are heritageless, meaning they have no heritage whatsoever, similar to Newly Claimed Lionesses. They can also only be adult lionesses or adolescent males, and you are able to influence which you receive more of based on a choice you make during the storyline. You can reset this boost at any time using a Mummified Heart, purchased from Tier One of the Champion Shop.

Dude. Listen. After every Arena battle there's like shit ton of groupies, right? I could nudge some towards you sometimes. SOMETIMES, alright? It's not like I am jealous, I just don't want to be killed for trafficking or something, bro. Dude. I can get like, one groupie per 6 hours. I caaaaan't really promise it'll be a girl every time, there's a bunch of fanboys like me who would like to meet you.

I am ready to meet a nice groupie! (8 Reputation)

By spending 8 Reputation, you can click the above button (only on Lioden during the May event, of course!) to automatically claim a groupie for you. You must have at least one territory space open—even if you end up claiming an adolescent male groupie, the script has to account for you possibly receiving an adult lioness. The groupie you claim will be directly deposited into your territory, meaning you do not have to go through a claiming process like with Newly Claimed Lionesses. You can claim one groupie every 6 hours.

For a quick rundown on what makes V'Kai's groupies so epic...
  • Groupies can either be adult lionesses or adolescent males. If you choose a specific option during the storyline, you will receive a boosted chance of claiming adolescent male groupies (this can be reversed at any time using a Mummified Heart).
  • Groupies will always come heritageless (having no heritage). Adult lioness groupies cannot be sex changed, but adolescent male groupies can be sex changed using a Cub Sex Changer.
  • Groupies have a very low chance of spawning with any base in the game, including special bases, combo bases, etc. Kimanjano and Mandarin are exempt from this, you will never have a Kimanjano or Mandarin groupie.
  • Groupies can come with any eye colour and personality.
  • Female groupies have a small chance of coming with a pose automatically equipped.
  • Groupies have a very rare chance of being mutated. The mutations that you will never see on groupies are: all Lethals; all Patches and Piebalds; Blind; Double Uterus; Dwarfism; Eyeless; Leopon; Mane Imperial; Mane Noble; Mane Succubus; Primal (Felis); Primal (Ferus); Primal (Smilus); Tigon. Every other mutation can generate on a groupie.
  • Groupies will always come with two markings randomly chosen by the script. They can spawn with any marking in the game, including special markings. Mottled Rosette and Mottled Stripes are exempt from this, you will never have a Mottled Rosette or Mottled Stripes groupie.
  • Groupies have their own exclusive bases and eye colours that can only be achieved by claiming groupies with these bases and eye colours, or breeding to lions with these bases and eye colours.

If you're wondering why you would want an adolescent male for a groupie, wonder no more! There is a market for heritageless male lions, referred to as "heritage reps" or "heritage replacers". Quite a few players will stockpile adolescent male groupies during May, then sell them later on in the year once the event has ended. During November, adolescent male groupies can be sold for around 10 Gold Beetles each, with their prices fluctuating throughout the rest of the year. They are popular during November due to the tradition of new applicable mutations being released annually during Black Friday. Heritage reps are a great way to keep your pride leader's appearance, while clearing out their heritage—heritageless or "Generation One" (G1) pride leaders are extremely valued for studding!

Vashkartzen's Rewards

Energy

One of Vash's rewards is being able to exchange Reputation for Energy.

Use the free time to train, boy! With this protein snack, you will feel very refreshed! Remember you can eat it only once per 2 hours.

Eat it! (4 Reputation)

You receive a protein snack from Vashkartzen. It's an ostrich egg with a developing chick inside. You munch it heartlessly and feel like you're ready to GET DOWN TO BUSINESS TO DEFEAT THE HUNS. Lions. Lions. Yes.(+25% Energy!)

By spending 4 Reputation, you can click the above button (only on Lioden during the May event, of course!) to automatically gain 25% Energy. You can purchase this reward every 2 hours.

Train the Cubs

The second of Vash's rewards involves exchanging Reputation for a Cub Training boost.

Spend 15 Reputation to have Vashkartzen help with your Cub Training! He will boost each training session by 5% and does not mind how many Cubs per day you want to train.

Let's Go! (15 Reputation)

Vashkartzen is ready. From now until rollover, he will be with you when you train your cubs. They will gain +5% training to their training bar! Your cubs will be strong! Woohoo!

By spending 15 Reputation, you can click the above button (only on Lioden during the May event, of course!) to unlock Vashkartzen's Cub Training boost. Each time you successfully train a cub or adolescent, Vashkartzen will help you out and boost the result by 5%. This lasts for one entire rollover, and you are able to purchase this reward once per day. There is no limit to the amount of cubs and adolescents you can use this boost on.

I can also gather some extra Arena Tokens or Manticora Beetles for you.
