On Lioden, there are several different types of bases: common bases that can be found in the wild on NCLs, uncommon bases that can be applied via Oasis means, rare bases that can appear while breeding, special bases that can be applied to your lions via applicators, etc. On September 15th, 2017, a new type of base was added to Lioden - combo bases!

Combo bases are bases that can appear when breeding two parents with specific bases to each other. These parent bases are called "factors", and breeding two "factors" on different sides together can result in a "combination" base. It should be clarified that breeding factor bases together will not always result in a combo-based cub; combo bases are rare and have a low chance to spawn when breeding factors together.

As an example, one popular combo base on Lioden is Elysian. Elysian can be produced by breeding its "Factor A" base, Ice, to either of its "Factor B" bases, Divine and Ebony. In simpler terms, an Ice lion bred to a Divine lion can result in an Elysian. Similarly, an Ice lion bred to an Ebony lion can result in an Elysian. You cannot get Elysian from breeding Divine and Ebony together, as these factor bases are on the same factor side.

One neat thing about combo bases is that if you breed a combo base to itself (e.g. breeding two Elysian lions together), you can produce cubs with that same combo base. In addition to this, you can breed a combo base to any of its factors on either side, and you'll have a chance at producing that same combo base! Using Elysian again as an example, this means that breeding an Elysian lion to an Ice lion (Ice being Elysian's "Factor A" base) can produce Elysian cubs. Breeding Elysian to Divine or Elysian to Ebony (Divine and Ebony being Elysian's "Factor B" bases) can also produce Elysian cubs. That being said, you cannot produce Elysian cubs if you are breeding an Elysian lion to any base other than Elysian, Ice, Divine, or Ebony. Breeding Elysian to any base that is not a factor for Elysian will only produce cubs that can genetically pass down from either parent, which you can see a better visual guide for within the Base Outcome Viewer tool.

Breeding Factor A x Factor B, Combo x Factor A/B, and Combo x Combo all have the same chances to produce a combo-based cub. You do not receive a combo base buff for breeding Combo x Combo; along the same lines, you do not have less of a chance to produce a combo when breeding Factor A x Factor B. For example, Ebony x Ivory can produce the Soul base. You have the same chance to produce Soul whether you are breeding Ebony x Ivory, Soul x Ebony/Ivory, or Soul x Soul.

Below, we have included handy charts which will show you what bases are required to breed together in order to receive those ever-elusive combo bases!

Special Criteria Combo Bases

Along with the requirement of breeding two specific bases together, there are some combo bases that have additional criteria that must be met in order for the base to have a chance of being bred naturally. These additional criteria include combo bases only being produced if lions are bred together in certain seasons, months, or at certain times of day. Crunchy Worms, which have a 25% chance per litter to copy a lioness's appearance down to one of her cubs, ignore this additional criteria. This means that if you use a Crunchy Worm on a Cloudburst lioness and she is bred outside of Wet Season, she can still produce an identical Cloudburst cub if the 25% chance rolls successfully.
